A beautiful view of the launch of Discovery on mission STS-51A on November 8, 1984, as photographed by astronaut John Young from the Shuttle Training Aircraft high above the Cape. Ed Hengeveld |

Ed, this has always been one of my favourites. Never knew that JY was the photographer. While it is on the new NASA Images site, its only at low resolution (41.4 kb). Could you possibly send me a Hi Res copy if available. Thanks Andy |

Here's one from an even higher altitude taken from a NASA WB-57. Any idea which mission? Paul |

I know that the FAA will only let you get within 30 Nautical miles from a launch. I was flying down to Miami in a King Air 200 and saw the STS-114 Launch from the Ormond Beach VOR which is 30 NM away. I was at 24,000 feet and it was awesome.Charles |
