Atlas standard launch vehicle 5301 and Gemini Agena Target Vehicle 5001 are prepared for Simultaneous Launch Demonstration Test at Cape Canaveral's Launch Complex 14. Atlas 5301 was mated with backup GATV 5001 at LC-14 on July 8, 1965 for fit and function tests for LC-14 and a Systems test for Atlas-Agena on July 26, 1965. Atlas 5301 remained at LC-14 until GATV 5002 was mated to it on October 10, 1965 for the ill-fated GT-6 attempt. GATV 5001 was eventually refurbished for the GT-12 mission.

...except that the Atlas and Agena in this photo were used for the manned spaceflight program, even if they did not carry men on board.
