 Thirty-nine years ago this week, the Apollo-10 astronauts made a stop at Tafuna Airport at Pago Pago, American Samoa, on their trip from the recovery ship USS Princeton back to Houston. Gene Cernan is greeted with the traditional lei by Tafa, the wife of Governor Owen S. Aspinall. Tom Stafford is at right. Ed Hengeveld |

Great photo. Tom Stafford looks a bit less comfortable than Gene Cernan! |

I don't know. Cernan seems to be looking at something unexpected, like a bird's head poking out of it's nest in her hair. |

I wonder how Gene Cernan would react if everyone showed up at the next signing with a copy of this picture?

I imagine Ed's email box has been flooded with requests for a hi-res scan of this photo and Cernan will be seeing it more than once at a future signing!  |
