Confucius said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. These three Apollo-9 astronauts will not be pedestrians much longer, as they leave the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building at KSC and board the Astrovan. This photo was taken from an open window in the MSOB, which present an unusual view of the walkout. I love the ‘pedestrian crossing’ sign.

Ed,
I like "pedestrian crossing" sign too -and even more the one below which says "stop"! (just in case someone wanted to do otherwise as your post suggest that that was the case: "These three Apollo-9 astronauts will not be pedestrians much longer")
