The Agena Target Docking Vehicle for Gemini-10 sits atop its Atlas launch vehicle during prelaunch preparations at Launch Complex 14 in July 1966. In addition to this target, the crew also rendezvoused with the Gemini-8 Agena. Ed Hengeveld |

Good looking, yes, but given their less-than-stellar success rate during Gemini, I think I'll pass up the opportunity for a ride... |

"GO ATLAS" Yes, but it's record on Mercury was spotless and outstanding, considering her reputation as being a bad news bird, tempermental and unsafe at any speed. Yes, I'd fly on her any day. Incidently after all the other boosters were scrapped, she survived to become America's premier booster with an excellent flight record. There was a time when she was considered obselete, ready for the junkpile and had no place in the future of space. The records she set have gone unanswered by any other rocket in her class. But the "Mighty Atlas" has survived. She was the first and I hope she will outlast them all, even the Delta 4. "GO ATLAS" | |
