STS-6/Challenger slowly moves through the early morning fog to launch pad 39A in preparation for its maiden flight. The trip was completed in just over six hours. The surrealistic scene was captured from a helicopter on November 30, 1982. The flight was eventually launched on April 4, 1983.

Another beautiful shot. Amazingly I have never seen a sight like that here yet.

By the way, I think we should call them photos of the semi-week :-)

This photo is also in Joe Allen's Book "Entering Space", 1984 (Stewart, Tabori & Chang, New York).

Hi Ed
What a beautiful photo.
It reminded me of a postcard I delivered a few weeks ago from someone who had been to San Fancisco for there holidays, it showed the two towers of the Golden Gate Bridge comming up above the sea fog.
Keep 'em comming mate.

Hey, that would work :-) I do like good photos!

I was thinking about San Francisco too...and if they ever started launching at Vandy you might get a sight like that.
