This is a reconstruction of the Mercury spacecraft that slammed into the water going about 400 miles an hour on July 29, 1960, during the Mercury-Atlas 1 suborbital flight test. A malfunction occured after about one minute of flight, resulting in water impact about 10 miles off Cape Caneveral. Spacecraft systems operated until impact.Ed Hengeveld |

Very interesting observation. I think my photo may have been taken from the "good" side, or from below, as seen in your photo.Ed |
