Lockheed Martin Releases its Water-Based Lunar ArchitectureToday (July 30) Lockheed Martin unveiled "A Vision for Humanity's Future in Space: Lockheed Martin's Water-Based Lunar Architecture," during a META presentation at the AIAA ASCEND show in Las Vegas, including a novella whitepaper.

As we move further into the Artemis era and start to build a sustainable presence at the Moon and beyond, we believe an architecture that is water-based, nuclear-enabled and commercially invested will become critical to that success.
This architecture includes a focus on:
- Transportation: technology like the Orion spacecraft and HLS to get humans to and from the Moon safely
- Mobility: multipurpose vehicles of all sizes and capabilities to help us explore the Moon's surface
- Power: a grid providing continuous power regardless of the Sun's location, using both solar and fission power
- Habitation: safe, reliable, lightweight and spacious shelters made of inflatable softgoods technology
- Space Resources: water ice harvesting and regolith mining to support life on the Moon
