Buzz Aldrin shared the following on Facebook:
The passing of my good friend, colleague and American hero TK Mattingly is sad news – for his family, friends, the space and astronaut community, and for America. He was a great test pilot, a Navy veteran, a class act, and a heck of a good man.

I'll always remember him for his natural ability to handle an immense degree of responsibility under pressure without getting rattled – a true professional of the rarest kind. He will be truly missed. Rest in Peace, Ken.

Here's a statement from actor Gary Sinise, who played Ken Mattingly in Ron Howard's "Apollo 13," (via X):
I had the great honor of portraying Ken Mattingly in the film Apollo 13 in the 90's. A great American hero. Rest in Peace T.K. Thank you for your service to our country.

The first 90 seconds of that Pontefract talk (link on first page) are extraordinary- he had such command of the audience and was so at ease.

Although I never met Ken he influenced me quite a bit over the years.

In the documentary "For All Mankind" Ken was talking about his piece of the mission and how he could assure you that his piece of the mission would be a success "It won't fail because of me" is the quote. Being an electrical engineer I've worked on many projects over the years and that is a mantra I've stuck to. That little sentence is a great thing to say to yourself at the start and the end of a project.

Such an amazing person with a great outlook on life, His family must be extremely proud of his achievements, and quite rightly so.

Thank you for your service to our country as a Naval Aviator and NASA Astronaut.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ken Mattingly in Iowa in 2016 and after his presentation, he agreed to sign autographs for all attendees. I was getting my photos autographed and reminded him of something that he totally forgot about, during his astronaut career. He was impressed that I knew about the event.
The event coordinator asked me to please hurry up because there were others behind me in line for autographs and Ken Mattingly told the event coordinator wait a minute and that he was talking to me and that he will get to the other guests after he was finished talking with me. It is a special memory that I will have meeting Ken Mattingly.
