A famous picture of 1978 show astronauts Ronald McNair, Guion Bluford and Fred Gregory in A7L-B Apollo era suit.The image was only for advertising purpose, or the three astronauts were involved in some training exercise (for example EVA training in the pool)?  |

Shuttle EMU suits were still under development so old Apollo/Skylab-era suits were used for initial training or 'photo ops,' yes. It should be noted that many flown or backup Apollo suits were reused by other astronauts throughout the 60s/70s. |

The photos from this session are also mentioned in the earlier topic Astronauts wearing the 'wrong' spacesuit, where a citation from the book "Black Stars in Orbit" describes the three as having been on an orientation tour of Johnson Space Center in January 1978. |

There are photos of Anna Fisher also in an Apollo suit also. If I remember right it was Pete Conrad’s suit. | |
