With the flight of STS-123 comes a new milestone among the astronaut crew aboard. Robert Behnken has become the first U.S. astronaut born in the decade of the 1970's to orbit the Earth. Mr. Behnken, who was born in 1970, brings another age group into the adventure of spaceflight. |

That might help some better understand his taste in wake-up calls. The crew started its day at 12:28 p.m., with the song "Enter Sandman" performed by Metallica. The song was played for Mission Specialist Robert L. Behnken. |

Ha ha ha!Oh come on, the ISS is about as "Heavy Metal" as one can get. It is interesting that Bob is an astronaut who comes from a time period where US space flights were few until the shuttle began to fly. So he wasn't able to watch the moon landings (except maybe the last few) or would have been too young to remember them anyway. It would be interesting to see his motivations for becoming an astronaut and how they might differ from the previous generation who usually do cite the excitement of the space program of the 1960s as one of their motivations for becoming astronauts. |

Paul, as a special favour I'll swap ages with you... But you're right. Now I'm depressed. |
