Were these two astronauts confused with each other because of their similiar sounding surnames? I have seen a newspaper cutting(from Dec 1982)announcing Swigert's passing away. The details include a tribute that(allegedly)came from John Glenn where he pays tribute to 'Rusty'and his heroism on Apollo 13.

This must have been a mistake on Glenn's part in thinking Schweickart was a crew member on Apollo 13....or has anyone got any other theories?
