After reading the previous subject about what astronauts smoked, and preference of brands; I had the same curiousity about drinking.

What alcoholic drinks did particular M-G-A astronaut's favor back in the day?

I think Carpenter favored scotch, American-style--on the rocks--in the 1960s.

I don't know how accurate it was, but in the movie version of "The Right Stuff", When Pancho did her little speech about the hot test pilots, and the dreamers, Gordo got a scotch. Was that true?

Michael Collins seemed to favor Martinis, though he also liked beer and wine.

In stark contrast to todays astros, some of which don't even drink coffee...

Yea, Mike Mullane had some great thoughts on that fact in his book! Wish I had his book in front of me and I'd give some quotes.

The quote that comes to mind is drinking coffee before lanch is to "Commit bladder suicide".

The reason I mention the coffee thing is some of today's astros do not even drink coffee in orbit - and this is a contrast to the MGA types that would have brought with something with kick - coffee or alcohol as soon as they were allowed (NASA never did give in to that Skylab was going to have wine but the Christian Women's Temperence Union made a protest with NASA. I'll never be sure how they got the clout to do that. It would be like having an Elks club stop an expressway project.)
