Many years ago, (guessing around '78) a publication down here featured an article on women recruited to NASA's astronaut ranks. One of the colour photos featured the candidates in Apollo-style white spacesuits (WSS, group shot and side on) and I can only recall with certainty, Rhea Seddon's inclusion. Naturally, the other ladies would have been (in all likelihood) Judy Resnik, Shannon Lucid, Sally Ride, etc.Does anyone know where a copy of this photo might be found? |

Mike, I have a portrait of Judy Resnik that was taken at this occasion, in WSS holding an Apollo helmet. I don't believe I have the group photo, but I know which one you mean. |

Of that occasion -- presentation of the first STS female astronauts -- a total of 10 official NASA photos exist... I can make scans of those. Also check the collectSPACE individual astronaut portrait listing of NASA photos and you'll see that about 5 women who made an EVA also have their portrait with white STS EVA-spacesuit! |

Thanks Phil, the photo(s) I was referring to were of the ladies in A7L suits... consistent with the time the pictures were taken. |

I have always wondered why Resnik was pictured in a AL7B / EVA suit and not the other females. There is also a photo of Bluford, McNair, and Gregroy in A7LB, which is understandable, as group 8 was the first time members of that minority group were selected, but I can't understand a picture of Resnik alone in such a suit. Any ideas anyone? |

The picture I'm referring to was one featuring all the original female candidates outfitted in A7Ls... not one just confined to Judy Resnik. |

While scouting around the net I came across one of the photos referenced upthread, of Judy Resnik - interesting shot. |

I think there is one of Anna Fisher in one also. If I remember right she had one of Pete Conrad's suit since it was the smallest one NASA had. |

Here are some of the photos discussed above. The Anna Fisher one was made in 1980 when she did some underwater training together with Joe Kerwin at Marshall.

For what its worth, Judy Resnik is wearing a pretty shabby mock up suit. Anna Fisher on the other hand is in a real A7LB. |

The shabbiness of the suit only serves to magnify the woman's natural beauty. |

I think the Resnik pic was for the creation of the McCall mural at JSC. I'll check around a little more on this. |

Here is a '79 NASA pic of McCall holding a photo of Miss Resnik from the same photo session in front of his mural depiction of her. I'm not sure if the photo was created for the JSC mural or if McCall was inspired by the photo for use in his mural. So if anyone knows McCall he will likely be able to answer this simple question. And here is a photo of Miss Resnik speaking with McCall at the mural's unveiling. |

Are either of the Resnik/Fisher photos still available anywhere? |
