Apparently the event in Chepstow, Wales UK, is a ticket event and has now sold out.

Info from the National Space Centre, Leicester UK:

  • 14:30 Chris Hadfield in a Q&A in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium - SOLD OUT
  • 15:35 Chris Hadfield talks for 10 minutes on his experience in space prior to departure from the Centre (any visitors with a day ticket to the National Space Centre)
Although I had contacted the NSC at the end of October they chose not to let me know when tickets became available.

Chris, I have not long got off the phone from the NSC and from what they explained the books can be purchased already signed by Col. Hadfield from their shop which does entitle you to a photo with him later, books will be on sale for £18.99 with Col. Hadfields autograph.

I am as yet uncertain as to whether I am going, well the bonus is I get a day away from work if I do.

Alex, did you get along to Leicester or anyone else? Hoping to see him in Oxford (Waterstone's) on Monday.

The Chris Hadfield lecture in Leicester was superb. Chris is an inspirational speaker and motivates as well as informs.

It was good to see so many people from the Space Lecture events there too.

Got to meet Commander Hadfield in Oxford today. Thankfully he turned up early & began signing almost right away which was lucky as most of the queue was outside in the sporadic rain.

Meeting him was brief but that was probably down to him wanting to sign as many books as possible before darting back to London for the Science Museum event this evening (really wish I could have gone to that).

Although we were rushed through with little chance of a photo Commander Hadfield managed to say 'Hi' to most people. I even managed to get a photo of his STS-100 EVA signed but sadly I wasn't cheeky enough to ask for a mission inscription.

When I left the queue was still stretching back around the store. I hope no one got turned away.

Got to meet Chris Hadfield in London (Waterstones) yesterday. Signing was due to start at 3pm (books only, unfortunately). When I joined the queue at 2.15 there were already 323 people ahead of me!

After I'd got my book signed (at about 4pm) I noted that the queue was double the length it had been when I joined it nearly two hours earlier. Fortunately, the weather was kind!

Gutted that he hasn't ventured to the north of England.

Is anyone going to the Edinburgh signing tomorrow and prepared to get an extra copy? Email please!

My post of October 14th:

"I'm convinced I saw Chris Hadfield cycle past me on the Stanley Park seawall circuit in Vancouver last Sunday, October 6th? (honestly)"

I was able to ask him yesterday at the booksigning at Waterstone's in Oxford. He confirmed it was indeed him and his wife. What were the chances of that? Priceless!

Chris, apologies for my delay to your question but I missed out on the lecture given by Col. Hadfield in the Patrick Moore Planetarium, but I was there for his 10-15 minute public lecture given to all including the School children who were visiting. I was number 29 out of 90 assigned a ticket on payment for the book signing, the book was already signed and entitled you to a photo with Col. Hadfield which I have now a very nice 12x8 print of.

All in all it was a good day, relaxed, fun, I enjoyed the NSC, the last time I visited was 10 years ago and since then I have visited the KSC 20 odd times, but nevertheless I enjoyed the whole experience.

NEW - Chris Hadfield Book Signing

On Wednesday 15th January, from 12.30-1.30pm, there's a rare chance to meet the man who inspired a million dreams of going into space at Foyles, Charing Cross Road, London as he signs copies of his book.

Chris Hadfield was in Belfast today, signing his new book. I saw him at Eason's bookshop... at the end of a queue which snaked around the basement floor of the shop, up the stairs, along the ground floor, out of the front door into a rainy Belfast afternoon, and about fifty yards along the street.

When I got away from work, I wondered at first why the bus queues had started early. In fact, these were hundreds of people lined up in the rain trying to get into the bookshop.

I confess I completely underestimated how many people would want to get a signed copy of his book. I didn't even try — at the speed the queue was moving I suspect the best the last one hundred could hope for was to get inside out of the rain.

Just saw that my favorite local bookstore, Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh, North Carolina, will be hosting Col Hadfield for the release of the paperback version of "An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth", April 16 at 1900 hours.

Quail Ridge has a website where you can order online, or it has been my experience that they are happy to take orders via phone.

I do hope they get a ton of people to show up, first to help support my favorite independent store, and second to show them that there is a solid community of space fans in North Carolina, which will possibly entice Quail Ridge to try to get more astronauts in for book events.
