Just in case you missed the news on our front page: quote: collectSPACE is proud to announce that soon buySPACE will be offering items from the personal archives of Apollo 11 moonwalker Buzz Aldrin. These items will range from letters to autographs, and from records to artifacts. A preview catalog for round one of the sale will debut in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, we are now accepting orders for a custom signing with Aldrin, who will visit Rocket Town on May 27. You can send your own memorabilia or order photos and other Aldrin-related collectibles appropriate for him to sign.

Baseballs are excluded from this signing. From the custom signing page: quote: Are there any items he won't sign? For this signing, we cannot accept baseballs (or any type of sports ball) or any philatelic (stamped) items. We also cannot accept flown artifacts.

I will be the first to admit I don't know much about autographs, but I am interested in why not baseballs? |

I'm hoping to send a NASA SP-4009 Apollo Chronology book. As soon as I can get to the Post Office, I haven't had a chance to get away from work during the day. Adam |

Robert, Would an oil painting on canvass be covered by the base fee? It is not exactly flat, but not exactly a 3-d either. How about a large patch? Vince

Both would be considered 3-D items. By "flat" items, we mean photos (of any size), index cards and the like. |

Due to schedule constraints, the time for our public signing has changed to now begin at 1pm and run through 4pm on Saturday, May 27. Our event and the following day's appearance at the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center will be the last time Dr. Aldrin will sign copies of Reaching for the Moon for free. These signings will also be the only two events where he will sign Lonnie Schorer's Kids To Space for free (Aldrin contributed the foreword to the book). |

Buzz Aldrin arrived in Houston early today to take part in our private and public autograph signings held at collectSPACE's office and at Rocket Town. For those who mailed in memorabilia, your items are now signed and will ship back to you beginning on Tuesday. Many thanks to everyone who came by to see and meet Buzz, including STS-116 Lead Flight Director John Curry and Russian space historian Jim Oberg. Though his visit today was brief (he is already on his way to DC), Buzz said he was looking forward to meeting even more collectors (and cS readers) at the UACC Show this August in San Antonio. Before he left, Buzz signed copies of his children's book "Reaching for the Moon" and Lonnie Schorer's new book "Kids To Space," to which he contributed the foreword. Both of these titles, signed, are available for order now through buySPACE. As teased in our earlier announcement, our sale of items from the Aldrin archives will begin soon. Look for a preview catalog to be posted during the week of June 5, with sales starting soon thereafter. We will also be bringing some of these items with us to the NASA Glenn Space Memorabilia Show on June 17. Thanks again to all who participated!

The display case does look great. However, the first thing that struck me about the photo is how Buzz is standing/posing for the shot. Doesn't it look VERY familiar? Just put an Apollo space suit on him and place him on the Moon in front of Neil Armstrong's camera!Best, Bruce |
