In addition to offering more than 80 items from the Edgar Mitchell collection, the star lot of this sale may be Neil Armstrong's Omega Speedmaster.
Neil Armstrong's personally-owned and -worn 18K solid yellow gold Omega Speedmaster Professional chronograph wristwatch (Ref. BA 145.022), presented to him at a special gala dinner on November 25, 1969, at the Hotel Warwick in Houston.

Notably, there exist multiple photos of Armstrong during his tenure as a professor at the University of Cincinnati wearing his gold Speedmaster as he folds a paper airplane. Accompanied by an 'Extract from the Archives' certificate from Omega, with remarks citing it as a "Special numbered edition to celebrate the 'Apollo XI' moon landing."

Bidding details: this watch will be sold LIVE at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at 6 PM ET on April 17, 2025; at that time, absentee bidding will close, and the auction will continue live in-person, via telephone, and on the Invaluable live bidding platform. To schedule a live auction phone call, please contact RR Auction at (603) 732-4280.

Neil Armstrong's gold Omega moonwatch sells for record $2.2M at auction

A new record has been set for the most paid at auction for an astronaut's timepiece.

The 18-karat gold Omega Speedmaster that was presented to Neil Armstrong four months after he became the first person to walk on the moon in 1969, sold for a hammer price of $1.7 million on Thursday (April 17). With the auction house's fees included, the total price for the chronograph was $2,187,500 — $280,546.25 more than the previous record set in 2022 by a nearly-identical gold Speedmaster gifted to Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronaut Walter "Wally" Schirra.

Wouldn't Ed Mitchell's flown Apollo 14 Rolex GMT sold last October make the seven figure auction result list at $2,163,199?
