Your Easy Auction House (YEAH) New Mexico is currently taking bids for five auctions offering the estate of NASA flight surgeon William K. Douglas.
William K. Douglas was a colonel with the United States Air Force, the first Flight Surgeon for NASA during the Mercury Program, and later involved with McDonnell Douglas Aerospace. He passed away in 1998 and his family is now selling his personal collection of Military and NASA items.

This is a series of five auctions ranging in items from his travels while in the military to his NASA career to correspondence with various people. In these auctions you can find "Flown Items" (including an Apollo XIV patch worn on the moon by Alan Shepard), one of a kind historical documents (his personal journals while being the first flight surgeon), and even a John Glenn life mask made before his historical flight.

The five auctions run as follows:
  • Auction 1, 300 lots: Mon, July 31 - Thu, August 17
  • Auction 2, 225 lots: Mon, July 31 - Thu, August 24
  • Auction 3, 234 lots: Wed, August 2 - Thu, August 31
  • Auction 4, 268 lots: Wed, August 2 - Thu, September 7
  • Auction 5, 114 lots: Wed, August 2 - Thu, September 14

A few standout lots: If the direct links above do not work, you can access all five catalogs from the front page of the YEAH New Mexico website.

Was anyone else surprised at the information revealed in this auction? Certainly a lot of personal opinions about the original 7. Medical records, not just on the astronauts but family members and other NASA employees. Was the code for each of the 7 from the candidate selection process already common knowledge?

All times are CT (US)
