The next Goldberg space Memorabilia auction is scheduled for Aug. 12, 2023. Aerospace, Space and Meteors will lead off the summer Collectables sale. The sale starts at 10 a.m. Pacific time. This sale is outstanding with over 275 space lots. Items range from the early days of aviation and include Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, shuttle and Russian programs. Highlights include a NASA Apollo Hasselblad 500 EL-HEC camera with lens and film magazine. This camera was one of the early cameras NASA purchased for use in the Apollo program. Provided are many details on the camera's NASA history including documentation that it was used in training by the Apollo 14 crew. There is a great selection of astronaut autographed photos including Neil Armstrong. There are also many other early NASA photos including sets that detail Apollo space suits. If you collect space food there are several "meals" worth of shuttle food — all used in training and some likely flown. There are also some outstanding models. The auction is not online yet but will be by the end of the month. |

There are over 275 space lots with many outstanding items. There are beautiful models from the 1960s, including a museum quality MA-6 capsule. Lot 56 is a segment of the umbilical cable for MA-6. Early NASA photographs – covering different missions – many of these are from the collection of Bernard Hohmann, a NASA consultant brought to this country through Operation Paperclip after WWII. Several "A Kodak Paper" Ed White spacewalk photos. Several lots of photos related to spacesuit development. Lot 233 is the rare Apollo 14 Hasselblad camera – used in training and only one of a few known to be available to private collectors. Lots 264, 265 and 275 are three meals of space shuttle food used in training – enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take a look through the online or printed catalog to see what interests you. |

Here is the link to the Goldberg’s auction page. The space sale is Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 1:00pm EDT. To highlight an outstanding find – the Apollo 14 Hasselblad camera. This camera is one of the original NASA Apollo cameras. Many are in museums and 11 were left on the lunar surface. This specific camera was used by the aAollo 14 crew on a geology field trip as they trained for their Fra Mauro mission. Dick Underwood preserved this camera since the end of Apollo. Accompanying the camera is an 80mm lens and a large capacity film magazine (also custom built for NASA). Be sure to read the full description of this lot (#233). |

OK I just noticed that Lot 60 had the two Gemini capsules for the Lot 23 models and Lot 60 also had the rest of the launch escape tower for the Lot 24 Mercury Atlas model. I hope the same person won them all otherwise the Lot 60 winner has some great after auction opportunities. |
