collectSPACE Astronaut Story Musgrave's Apollo-flown medallions, shuttle toiletries up for auctionA medallion that was flown to the moon on the first lunar landing for a member of NASA's astronaut corps could be yours for $100. Or, if you prefer, the same astronaut's copy of the ascent checklist he used on his first launch into space could be yours for $100. Or if that doesn't strike your fancy, the blue flight suit that the astronaut wore to train for the first mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope could be yours for $100. Or, should none of that appeal to you, the astronaut's personal tube of Colgate toothpaste, his toothbrush and his unwaxed dental floss, could be yours for... $300 — $100 each. All of these items are part of the Story Musgrave auction, hosted by Los Angeles-based Nate D. Sanders Auctions, with bidding set to end on Thursday, June 29 at 5 p.m. PDT (8 p.m. EDT or 0000 GMT on June 30). Each of the 100 lots open at just $100. |

I’m not close to Robbins medallions but the Apollo 11 flown medallion seems cheap. In fact quite few of them are a bit on the low side, |

Selling multiples of the Shuttle Robbins medallions all at once is a sure way to guarantee lower prices but presumably Musgrave wanted to do it this way.In any case this was a rare opportunity for collectors at least to get some of these medallions direct from an astronaut at a significant discount to the usual price levels.
