For those collectSPACE members who also collect Contemporary art, I wanted to be sure and point out two great space-related pieces coming up in the Nov. 15, 2019 Contemporary Art Sales here at Sotheby's.
  1. Michael Kagan's "I Will Be Here Long After You Are Gone" (bonus points to anyone who can correctly identify the mission and astronaut depicted)

  2. Robert Rauschenberg's "Space Invaders"
If you have any questions, or would like any help registering to bid, please do not hesitate to let me know!

Yes - Apollo 17! I believe it is a from a photo of Cernan taken by Schmitt.

The photo actually shows Schmitt. It was taken around the same time as the John Wayne photo of Cernan, when the crew passed the camera to each other, but this one is Schmitt, you can tell because he has another camera mounted on his chest, the photo of Cernan has no chest camera.

It's very similar to Alan Bean's painting "Savoring the Moment," an image of Schmitt standing behind the rovers fender. Check it out.
