Among several lots from the estate of Jim Harrington, a Grumman LM-6 flown data plate presentation was sold for $7500 plus premium. It is interesting to see that at least for Apollo 12, there were more than three of these data plates flown and not just for the astronauts involved in the mission.

I updated the spacecraft ID plate page of my Space Flown Artifacts site to mention this.
It seems likely that Grumman arranged with NASA or the Apollo 12 astronauts to have some additional LM plates to be carried alongside the astronaut examples in order to present them to key employees after the flight.
My guess would be that this was specific to Apollo 12 and arranged at the same time as the Grumman tie pins also flown on that mission, but this is purely speculation.

There were a number of similar looking displays at the Northrop Grumman Heritage Museum located in Bethpage, NY just outside of the old Grumman facility a few years ago. I took a series of photos of them that I will attempt to locate. Not sure if they featured flown or unflown plates, but will confirm when I locate the photos.

RocketmanRob, were you ever able to locate photos of the LM displays at the Northrop Grumman Heritage Museum? Or does anyone else have some to share?
It would be very interesting to see who they were presented to in addition to their corresponding LM ID Plate numbers. Thanks!

I have never seen a photo of the Apollo 14 LM-8 ID plate. Maybe that one will turn up at the museum.
