I've never participated in a live auction before and thought I'd give it a shot. The Nate D. Sanders Jan. 2015 auction just ended and I was quite disappointed. Not only were there a relatively small selection of items, about 95% received no bids. I bid the minimum on a Jack Swigert signed Apollo 13 cover with an LOA from his sister attesting to its authenticity. I was the only bidder and got it for $300. I'm pleased as s**t, but I wonder why only two other bids were offered on two different items, at minimum bid. I would have thought that a Jack Swigert Apollo 9 flown Robbins medal would at least have opened for a minimum bid of $1,700. |

Don't count on having won it until you have seen an invoice. Usually the starting bid is just that a start, not a selling price. It will have an unrealistically high reserve. Hopefully that will not happen here, they priced it reasonably at $300 plus premium which is $375.That is the reason you do not see that many people bidding on his auctions. I have "won" several times only to have found that I did not win the item as it did not reach reserve, though I have won once or twice Good luck on yours. |

Nobody I know bothers to bid these days. The pieces you're seeing on their website have been recycled for months because they never reach their reserve. |

There is a flown snoopy pin with box and docs for only $750 (no one bid on it and there is a buy it now option). |

I don't think a late Shuttle Snoopy Pin is worth $750, but that is just me. |

Actually had the Snoopy pin been sold, it would have been $937 after fees. And that is definitely too high. |

Well, you guys got me all psyched up and ready to get my son (a lawyer) to send a nasty letter to Mr. Sanders. Especially after I saw the same cover on the new auction that started today.Cooler heads prevailed and I called them to see if there was some unspecified "hidden" reserve on my item and was that the reason I hadn't received an invoice. I was politely told that they no longer have unspecified reserves. Seems a lot of people "didn't like that," and indeed I had won the item. An invoice will be emailed tomorrow. So, if anybody wants a Jack Swigert signed cover and thinks $300 + $75 reserve is fair, go for it! |
