Progress MS-23 launches to space station

The 84th Progress cargo spacecraft to head for the International Space Station, Progress MS-23 is now on its way, having launched on Wednesday (May 24) at 8:56 a.m. EDT (1256 GMT or 5:56 p.m. local time) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The resupply ship reached its preliminary orbit and deployed solar arrays and navigational antennas as it began its three-hour rendezvous.

The Progress will dock to the space station at 12:20 p.m. EDT (1620 GMT).

On board, the Progress is carrying about three tons of food, fuel, and supplies for the multi-national Expedition 69 crew.

Progress docks to space station

The Progress MS-23 spacecraft autonomously docked to the International Space Station's Poisk mini-research module at 12:19 p.m. EDT (1619 GMT).

Progress undocks from space station

The Progress MS-23 spacecraft undocked from the International Space Station's Poisk mini-research module on Wednesday (Nov. 29) at 2:55 a.m. EST (0755 GMT).

Loaded with trash, the Progress was expected to deorbit over the Pacific Ocean after spending six months at the station.
