During the flight of STS-114, Andy Thomas read a poem during the STS-107 tribute that began, "Not twice may any stand by the same stream/Not twice possess the years that hasten on;/Something there was we looked on, love, ‘tis gone/Or stays but as the shadow of a dream."

I can find no record of an author of the poem anywhere online. Was it composed especially for the tribute, and if so, by whom?

For the record, the poem was written by Sir Hubert Wilkins, an Australian polar explorer. I can't imagine why Andy Thomas of all people would read something written by a guy from Australia...

I'm not sure of the poem but your post made me think of this again. Extremely profound and sad, but articulate. It is Dave Brown's last email home on STS-107.
