I've always thought that one of the strange things about the early Shuttle program was the charmed life Charlie Walker seemed to lead, flying 3 times in 2 years - and he was not even a career astronaut!
Each time, he was onboard thanks to his employer, McDonnell Douglas, in order to conduct his (I think electrophoresis) experiment. My question is... was only Charlie qualified to conduct this experiment and did it ultimately prove a success? Or... did Charlie just get very, very lucky? :-)
