Michael Collins once remarked that prior to Apollo 11 a friend prepared a cassette tape of music to play during free moments. These songs contained references to the moon whenever possible such as "Moon River" and "Dancing in the Moonlight."
However Collins' favorite melody was "Everyone's Gone to the Moon." He had never heard it until he was in route to the moon but he said he found it to be very restful. Here you can listen and post what you think.

The Apollo 11 mixtapes were made by Mickey Kapp of Kapp Records (named for his father, who founded the label in 1954). He filled the tapes will songs picked out by Armstrong and Aldrin. According to Collins, he didn't request or take any music on the mission:
What music did you take on Apollo?
None. Music tapes were provided by friends of Neil and/or Buzz. Most of them I had never heard before. My favorite? "Everyone's Gone To the Moon". See page 426 of my book for a more thorough answer.
It is in "Carrying the Fire" that Collins recalls liking "Everyone's Gone to the Moon," calling it "very restful."
