Miss USA R'Bonney Gabriel took to the stage for the 71st Miss Universe National Costume Show on Thursday (Jan. 12).
When Americans stepped on the moon in 1969, it was one small step for a man. Today, women are more involved as leaders in returning the U.S. to the moon. This delegate is representing NASA's Johnson Space Center in her hometown of Houston.

Speechless, hope she wins the "space race".

Somehow... I can see the magnificent desolation in this.

I thought that Miss Universe, Miss World and other such contests had, sadly, been consigned to the history books. Obviously not!
I suggest however that this is going the way of the European Song contest. The titles are becoming redundant. It's now all about over-the-top spectacle and artistic performance. The original concepts have been lost (more's the pity).

Being a Filipino myself, proud of her to be Miss Universe of 2023.

Sorry, I think this is hideous, no matter who was wearing it.
It reminds me of the tackier fashion statements from the 60s along these lines.
