I was faced the decision of either the closure of my website (due to issues with the hosting platform) or completely redesigning it and starting from scratch. I chose the latter!

After a month of building it in my spare time it is now live for all to see at:

Mach-Buster.co.uk.
There is a huge section on Chuck Yeager and the planes he flew, twp pages on Fred J. Ascani and pages on the following:
  • Bob Cardenas
  • Pancho Barnes
  • Jacqueline Cochran
  • Convair XF-92A
  • Captain Eric Brown
Ten pages of test pilot biographies (71 in total) plus.

There are now videos on a number of the pages plus I've restored the audio from Yeager's wild ride in the X-1A to the site. Still lots to go but it's a decent start I think!

Future updates will include autograph pages and my visits to autograph shows such as Autographica, Spacefest and ASF AAMS shows plus more flight test material including X-2, X-15 and Lifting Body programs.

Thanks for looking! — Derek

Whilst I applaud your efforts in redesigning your website, I offer the following as a critique only.

I encourage you to incorporate a responsive web design that caters to mobile devices because statistically, most users these days view websites on a mobile device that requires the page to respond to the smaller screen size and orientation changes, as well as catering to the large size of modern displays and screens found on high definition resolution screens.

Additionally, consider the accessibility of your website for visually impaired users by doing such things as filling the “alt” tags of images in your HTML code with an appropriate description of the image, so that the screen readers used by visually impaired users can “read” the image to the users.

Whilst this may sound like a lot of work, incorporating such things from the beginning is far less effort than having to do the same later on, and helps with the search engine optimization of your web page to feed you more traffic. It will also put you in front of the potential accessibility legislation that will incorporate websites in the not-too-distant future.

If you have gone to the effort of redesigning your website, I am sure that you will want your efforts to be fluent in modern web design so that it works on modern, interactive devices for as long as possible.

The website has been updated again to include my visits to various autograph shows (Autographica, Spacefest, Astronaut Scholarship Foundation) plus Vostok, Mercury, Gemini and Apollo galleries.

There is also a links page which includes a number of highly recommended weblinks to my favourite websites (including collectSPACE!).

Thanks for looking.
