collectSPACE Budweiser brews limited lager for moon landing 50th anniversaryBudweiser has brewed a new limited edition beer in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. Discovery Reserve American Red Lager draws its recipe from a Budweiser blend that dates back to the time of the Apollo moon missions. "This Bud's for those who challenged the odds and made the impossible, possible. Budweiser Discovery Reserve is our tribute to this epic moment in history, one that will certainly continue to inspire generations of present and future explorers," said Ricardo Marques, vice president of marketing core and value brands at Anheuser-Busch, in a statement released on Tuesday (April 16). |

There is an eBay auction (233188119810) with multiple sets of Budweiser Reserve patches with the Earth-Moon logo, if anyone is interested. (I have no affiliation with the seller or the auction, just thought I would pass along the info.) |

I found this beer locally and tried some. It’s actually quite good! Too bad it’s a limited edition. |

Budweiser also produced a promotional bottle opener, which was given out to attendees at an anniversary celebration held at the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey. (Oddly, it seems to be adapted from a LEGO minifigure design.) Astronaut Terry Virts wore a Budweiser flight jacket featuring the aforementioned patches to throw out the first pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game on July 20. He also helped presented a check to Folds of Honor on behalf of Budweiser and the Dodgers.

This is still on store shelves as picked up a six pack today. There are two different bottle caps. One is shown above with the dark background and light grey lunar surface. The other is a bright background with a reddish Mars surface. |
