Shared by Arlene Busby on Facebook:
The Memorial Service for James M. Busby will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 11 a.m. at The Church of Latter Day Saints, 2000 Artesia Blvd., Torrance, California.

The family requests no flowers, instead please make a donation in Jim's memory to continue his life's passion to educate and preserve space to the Aerospace Legacy Foundation.

Arlene Busby has started a GoFundMe campaign to send Jim's remains to space.
Despite his great love for this industry he also had an empty place in his heart. Jim would look up in the sky with wonder and sadness because he knew that while he lived he would never make it to the place he always wanted to go SPACE.

I cannot think of a more fitting tribute to the love of my life than to send a token amount of his ashes into space. The money you give will go towards making this happen. There is a flight in November, 2016. Room on this flight is limited. So, I will need the money as soon as possible to reserve a space for him. If I miss getting his ashes on this flight he may have to wait 2 or more years for another opening.

My husband was and is everything to me. In order for me to honor him and our deep love for each other I cannot think of a more appropriate way to make his dream of space travel come true.

I hope you can find it in your heart to help me accomplish this so I can help him fulfill his lifelong dream.

The Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey, California will host a public celebration of Jim Busby's life on Aug. 13, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The GoFundMe campaign to send Jim's remains to space has reached $1,700 of its $4,500 goal. The total funds are needed by October to reserve Jim's place on a November launch being organized by Celestis.

From Arlene Busby:
It's happened!!! We've reached goal. Jim will have a fully funded trip into space.

To all of you who donated and shared the link I cannot express how much your generosity touches my heart. I could not have done this without you.

If I could express in writing in the same way I could express myself verbally tears would be rolling down my face and the words out of my mouth would be difficult to get out over the sobbing for joy.

Jim's dream to travel in space is now a reality thanks to you all.
