The season 8 premiere of The Travel Channel's Mysteries at the Museum includes the invention of cellophane and an explosive April Fool's Day prank, as well as the story of how archaeologists discovered the bones of King Richard III under a parking lot.
But of interest to collectSPACE readers, the episode also tells the story of the Fisher Space Pen and the long-told tale of how a pen saved the Apollo 11 mission. The segment features the San Diego Air & Space Museum's Jessica Packard.
I also note that this week's episode features Gordon Cooper's Mercury spacecraft on display at Space Center Houston.

Interesting how a "myth" can become fact (and a good marketing ploy) if left to persist. Also brings to mind the suicide pills supposedly carried on board the Apollo lunar missions. Of course, they only ever asked the Apollo 13 crew if they had any to use!
