Been away most of the day and just heard about Leon's passing -- My wife, Theresa, and I are speechless, shocked, and stunned -- completely motionless! We are at a loss of any further words at the moment...but let me thank Steve Wirth for the phone call only a short time ago. What a tremendous loss in so many ways of a dear friend, brother, and of such a sweet, humble, and compassionate man. Yesterday the aerospace collecting community had lost one of its biggest supporters and avid enthusiasts. When the time is right, I'll post more here later. Meanwhile, To Donna, family and friends -- our heartfelt condolences as we just don't know what to say in such a difficult time as this. |

Colin, you forget San Antonio in 2006, when Leon and I made you a honorary Texas Ranger. I picked that badge up when Leon and I were dragging CeCe Bibby around the Alamo in the 106 degree heat. |

Larry, as you know I treasure that badge, and bring it to every space show. It will be a permanent reminder of Leon for me. |

I've just seen the news on FB - what a shock and such a great loss - as with many, I met Leon through the autograph shows and was always appreciate of his generous nature and vast knowledge that he was always willing to share. Godspeed |

What jarring and very sad news to come upon. Like many others I've been reading Leon's comments here for so many years now, never thinking his always worthwhile posts would end so soon. My condolences to all his family and friends. |

Sad and tragic news. I never met Leon, but know he was a serious space enthusiast and had a world-class collection. Our hobby has lost someone very special. R.I.P. |

Leon helped me a lot in my early days of collecting, giving me some good deals on signed covers to start off with. He was a great guy. |

The saddest aspect of Leon's passing was that he was only 53. His family and friends should have enjoyed another 20-30 years with him.As a community we should remember Leon by emulating him. Maybe when the time is right we can organize an annual tribute to our fallen cS members. Leon and Mike Zolotorow being the most recent. My condolences to Leon's family and friends. I wish I had known him as well as some of you did. |
