Did anyone see the episode of Cake Boss on Sunday?
Space Shuttle, Stepping Up & Surprise!

Buddy attempts to create a space shuttle cake for NASA that lifts off!

Buddy Valestro was at the Kennedy Space Center and made a great cake of the shuttle on the launch pad complete with the ET and SRBs.

They put little rockets underneath and that coupled with a lift, made it look like a "liftoff."

I did. It was pretty neat looking. I did not catch the whole show, I came in when they were unloading and had a broken piece. Watched the rest. The "liftoff" was nice especially for a cake.

He got to sit inside the Atlantis in the OPF. He also went to the launch pad and got a great tour. I did feel badly for the employees, wondering how many would still be at NASA in the next few months.

Great looking cake, but I wonder how many people noticed that the SRBs lit up before the three mains!

I haven't seen the episode yet, but I was at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on the day it was taped. The cake reveal was part of the STS-1 30th anniversary commemoration for NASA employees and, as it followed the announcement that Atlantis would be displayed at the Visitor Complex, became a celebration for that, too.

I arrived just after the taping ended, so I missed seeing the cake all lit up, but was able to get close-up to the cake as Buddy Valestro was leaving.
