Reading in the newspaper about the costs of the current G-8 summit here in Germany which already total up to 120 million Euro (about 162 million US-$)for security I thought about the following idea for the next time :

Why don't we send these guys into space next time - considering an ISS flight is about 30 million $, but for 8 we can possibly work out a volume discount.

They can fool around up there in orbit (does anyone really care anyway about the nonresults they are achieving ?) and for some we don't even need to pay for return, so these kids can fight against each other as long as they want.

Seriously...thousands of police men and women have better things to do here in Germany than to protect these folks.

My 2cents

ROFL - good idea. Maybe a one-way trip?

These meetings are all about posturing, so you can't expect this bunch to do anything constructive for climate change or global poverty. One of the attendees has caused '000's of tonnes of carbon in the last month through his jet-setting, taxpayer-funded "farewell tour".

Love the idea florian, but ISS is not far enough. Lets send them to Mars, that would keep them busy for at least 6 months each way.

But how do you transport George Bushes 700 accompanying staff out there?

Without their aides, these people won't get beyond "hello" and "how are you?" .....

We need to find a launch vehicle large enough.
And add Paris Hilton to the crew- no, cargo- manifest.
