Ok..thought I'd throw this one out there..What's the best movie that y'all have seen so far this summer...I've only been to just one movie this summer so far and it was Star Wars, Episode III. I thought it was quite good.. Am planning to see the Dukes of Hazzard movie in August as I was a big fan of that show as a kid..Previews look pretty good... |

I have to agree that the last installment of Star Wars is probably the best I have seen but The Longest Yard is up there also. I was not expecting much from that movie but it was really good. I think the biggest disappointment would have to be the Fantastic 4. I did not think much of it at all. I might go see War of the Worlds this week. Any opinions on that movie?? Mike |

Star Wars? Dukes Of Hazzard? War Of The Worlds? The Longest Yard? Not exactly Academy Awards material. Well to each their own. That's why God created Vanila and Chocolate! My pick is Cinderella Man. |

Have not seen it yet but it was on my list. I have daughters that are 11 and 16. They usually get to pick the movies we see. Earlier this year my 16 year old wanted to watch Gladiator so we watched it together. She really enjoyed it. Braveheart is another of my favorites but I had to wait until it came to HBO before I watched it. I read an interview of a critic a few weeks ago and the interviewer asked why we did not have great leading men like we did in the 40s and 50s. His response was that back then movies were made for adults and now they are made for adolescents. I had to agree. We did see Million Dollar Baby earlier this year. Very Good Movie. I agree with Braveheart and Gladiators. I think that Mel Gibson and Russell Crowe are great leading men. Another fantastic movie with Crowe was A Simple Mind. If it wasn't for his attitude at the time he won have won a second straight Oscar. Tom Hanks is another great actor but his movies in the last few years were not on my top 100 list. Then you have Deniro, Pacino, Eastwood. I think if you tried you could think of other worthy leading men. Dave |

Mike, My advice is go see it. I for one enjoyed it very much. I know it has received some bad reviews, but I pretty much gave up on judging from reviews many years ago when everyone loved Little Shop of Horrors. That was one of the worst things I've ever had to sit through. On a similar note, yesterday I watched Citizen Kane (the consensus best movie ever made) on DVD and was bored senseless, almost to the point of not being able to finish it. Movies are very subjective, but IMO if you like action movies you will probably love War of the Worlds. |

As a fan of the Marvel comics stable.. I went to Fantastic Four not expecting as much as I did for Spiderman......but, I enjoyed FF more that either of the 2 Spiderman flix. I felt there was better character development in the short 2 hr span than in any of the previous Marvel movies ( especially Daredevil..which really disappointed me ) If you are looking for a critics choice, go see Cinderella Man ( which I thought was terrific as well ) but if you are looking for a great fantasy popcorn movie, try FF.. and tell me Michael Chiklis isn't the best "Thing" in the movie!! |

War of the Worlds is worth seeing. I went expecting to be disappointed, but I was surprised. I think it is one of the best SF films made in the last few years. |

I havn't been to the cinima for a while, taking my youngest to see Winnie the Poo's Heffalump movie was the last time (don't laugh it was her birthday treat). With the kids being off for 6 weeks I'm going some time this week to see Madagascar with the girls. I'm also making the effot to see War of the Worlds soon.My work mate seen it and said it wasone of the best films this year. I notice from the film cast list that Gene Barry and Ann Robinson are in this film ( they were main actors in the 1950's classic version ). Ian |

I haven't seen a movie I didn't like this summer. Nothing great, but a lot of good movies. Star Wars, Wedding Crashers, War of the Worlds, Longest Yard were all good. |

>I notice from the film cast list that Gene >Barry and Ann Robinson are in this film ( >they were main actors in the 1950's classic >version ).I just returned from War of the Worlds and it was great. I enjoyed it. Very different than the original because it showed the effects of the invasion from the view of a family instead of a pair of scientist. I think I may have spotted Gene Barry and Ann Robinson. It happened so quick and I am not sure but I think they played Tom Cruise's ex-in-laws. Right at the end of the movie Tom goes to their house. His ex-wife comes out and behind her are two people that might be Gene and Ann. Did anyone notice who played Tom's ex-wife? I think it was Miranda Otto, Eowyn of Lord of the Rings. Mike Myer |
