"Of humanity and the firmament"

In this week when we are about to take another confident step forward into the firmament we will do so on the backbone of knowledge learned from earlier steps - some of which came with personal tragedy. This week's further step of discovery will be another step forward on the long but purposeful climb out of Our cradle into the firmament. This step and many others that will follow will help us to march forward towards other globes in this firmament and to gaze in awe and wonderment upon them.

As the present guardians of Earth we carry the baton of humanity, a baton which has been handed down to us over the aeons, from the beginning, by our ancestors . When it is Our turn to pass it on to Our descendants to carry forward , we must ensure that the baton is still intact - for that token baton represents humanity and all life on Earth.

You and I are not alone on Our Earth. There are other humans from different races , creeds and cultures. And we must not forget the other earthly life forms - the animals, the birds, the plants , the fishes and the myriad other life forms sharing this - Our Earth. For we are of one earth - our Earth - in an ether that will have many earth's - many of which may well have alien scapes and life forms.

This is Our Earth , Our beautiful blue and white marbled Earth. We have to look after Our Earth, care for Our Earth, protect Our Earth. For we have only one Earth - this Our cradle and Our present home.

In this week when Our representatives again go forth out into the firmament with our baton, let Us hope that they return safe and well with wondrous tales of the adventures and sights that they see . And that Our baton that they will tokenly carry into the firmament again may remain intact.

For one day - we know not when or where - Our descendants may have the awesome task of handing the baton back to the " ..force, the power, the creator of the firmament and its orbs and its life." We must ensure that when Our baton does gets presented - on that day - that it will still be intact and representative of all of Earth's life - past, present and future.

For, if we present a clean baton , then, and only then, will we have earned Our place on the universal rostrum and Our right to be called - Earth's humanity.

[I penned this after this past week's tragedies in London and elsewhere across the globe and after the Victory parades marking the end of WWII (with all its sacrifices and tragedies) and with Columbia's and Challenger's tragedies and the other space accidents in my mind]

Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been and there you long to return.
