I am not a chemist so I need some advice as to what type of protectors are best to store lithos and covers. I have seen different types of materials offered, including polyethylene, celluloid, mylar etc.I know that PVC's are bad, but what is best?? Also, what about the acid reducer sprays I have seen advertised. Will they harm lithos, photos, or covers? Some of my older covers are starting to yellow-- will these sprays help? Thanks for the advice? David |

I've got all my photos in document protectors in a D ring binder. They stay nice and neat... |

I take care about 2 essential things in my collection:1. Lay large books horizontally flat instead of putting these vertically as in libraries ( better for the spine ) 2. All photos sit in large leather folders with 400 plastic sleeves each ( Keep photos away from light ! ) Best regards & happy collecting ;-) http://mars-literature.skynetblogs.be/

I have a big collection of original MSCL/JSCL NASA lithographs from 1969 to 1975, all in an original NASA brown envelope, sandwiched between two original NASA cardboard stiffeners. All appear to be in perfect condition, with no obvious sign of fading. No fancy storage methods, but it has obviously helped that they have been kept out of the light. | |
