Hi, what would be a complete list of films the shuttle or very shuttle-like vehicles play an important role in the movie? I don´t mean science or official NASA films but general drama/fiction stuff. I found or ownMoonraker Space Cowboys Deep Impact Armaggedon Space Ship One The Core SpaceCamp (the ISS in ) The Day after Tomorrow I saw a movie (part of it) on German TV recently with a malfunction satellite damaging a shuttle, but didn´t cath the name of this movie. What other movies would add to this list? Does anybody know if a movie would be made of Tess Gerritsen´s crime story `Gravity´, which is mainly taking place on the ISS? she mentions Tom Marshburn as contributor of informations in the credits. Thanks Chris |

Chris - My favorite space movies are "CONTACT" and "Red Planet", but they do not feature the Shuttle. I have the feeling that there are more shuttle films, but I cannot think of them. In what order would you place those that you already mentioned? I have not seen all of them. Of those mentioned, my favorite is "Space Cowboys" because of the space science that they showed in the movie - not that they would in reality ever launch such a crew of "geesers." Then is "Armiggedon" for adventure and more science about comets. Has Russia or Europe ever made a movie about the Shuttle or about space? [] |

Hi Bill, hard to say about a ranking. I think Deep Impact is a good drama and I would always prefer it to Armageddon, Space cowboys is good fun. In my opinion there is much bad science in The Core, but there´s something about that shuttle landing in the midst of Los Angeles. It may all be a thing of personal taste, and so I like Contact very much as well, cannot get enough of that scene with Jodie Foster sitting in the desert and hearing "it" for the first time. Chris |
