I remember a few years ago after the Challenger accident, a made for TV movie was done. So now I'm wondering, will we see another one about Columbia?? What are your thoughts on this???

Yes, I'm sure there will be. I hope it is better than the Challenger movie. I'm guessing that the Indian actress on ER will portray Kalpana Chawla. Who would you pick to play the rest of the crew?

If Kevin Bacon hadn't already played Jack Swigert..( and looked nothing like him..) he would have been a good choice for Willie McCool.

Speaking of made for tv flicks, does anyone remember a TV Movie-of-the-Week which was about some female asstronaut trying to be the first one on the shuttle, and it mostly revolved around a stylized STS-6 crew selection (the woman was already an astronaut)? Maybe 1982 or 1983 (pre or post Sally Ride, i'm not sure).

Ghastly.

Machbuster-
Thanks- Icouldn't remember her name, excellent actress. Kevin bacon should have gotten his buzz cut for Apollo 13 -as Willie McCool -definitely.

When it's done I hope it will be done factually and not be one big network melodrama, and I also hope it won't be done for a while.
The next mission hasn't even launched yet...

A little over a year ago- our "From the Earth to the Moon" writer and producer- Graham Youst wrote for CBS a script for a Columbia film. But the option was not picked up and there are no plans right now.
