Hi,
sometimes there are things more important than space, so please allow me to post something a little off topic (well , it´s free space).
Today my wife at the age of 42 had to undergo cardiac surgery , having replaced a seriously damaged aortic valve. Sure, it´s not the most risky heart surgery to have but you never know...
Before going to hospital she asked me for some lucky charms to take with her. She´s not a space maniac like me but interested as well and has accompanied me to several astronaut sightings.
So - and that´s the "space" in the story - I gave her a tiny shuttle-shaped tie tac made of sterling silver and a little astronaut figure suited up for EVA.
Just visited her on the intensive care unit and she´s feeling as fine as can be after that operation. I don´t believe in magic but maybe the space items were of some use...
So perhaps some wishes from you may cheer her up as well and if she recovers soon the European folks of our community can meet the two of us on some of next year´s events.
Please excuse me for getting that personal but just could not keep the lucky feeling for myself.
God bless you all
Chris

I've found this to be a very comforting group, almost family like. I've shared a couple of personal episodes and the response always made me feel good.

I can truly appreciate that you and your wife are going through a very hard, heavy situation.

My prayers will be with yuo, her, and your families.

God Bless

My thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery for your wife, and for strength for you and your family. Sounds like she has a great support system. I have worked in the cath lab in various capacities since 1975 and am sure as good as technology is today, she will do fine!

Get well soon. Having a loving hubby helps one get through a lot and it looks like you have one.

Chris,

I lost my mother almost 21 years ago to the day from a cardiac complaint and she was only 42 at the time also... I hope you and your family are able to enjoy a lifetime of experiences with your good lady... My warmest wishes,

Derek Horne

I hope your wife feels better every day! I have a friend who just had heart surgery, so I know how scary it is. They gave us Shuttle tie tac pins like the one you mentioned when I went to Space Camp last month, so now that I know what good luck charms they make, I'll be sure to take it along on occasions where I think it might be needed!

Best wishes, Carrie

Best Wishes to you both.

I have wasted alot of good worry on heart and other health conditions. Technology is on your side and "good luck charms" of a space-ial nature don't hurt either !
