Hi Gang,
I am a bit confused so i hope one of the group can help me. I have booked into the Burbank Hilton for 3 nights (Fr Sa Su )and asked where abouts it is in LA i was told that it is in the San Frenando Valley.
Please could one of the group tell me how far it is away from the Attractions and are there any other hotels that any one going to the show could recomend to stay in near the attractions. I am flying in to LAx on the fri for the show and will be flying back to the UK the next Friday so anyone who could help me i would gladly appciate it.
Many Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul-

I have very limited knowledge of California. It's a pretty big state.

I believe LAX is about 45 minutes drive to Burbank.

Hollywood is in very close proximity to Burbank. Universal Studios is 15 minutes away from the Burbank Hilton with a free shuttle ride. (Not The Space Shuttle)

Depending on what type of "attractions" you are interested in seeing/experiencing, there are many things to do and see in California. There are freeways galore that make for quick access at certain times of the day to beach areas, (Santa Monica Pier, Hermosa, Redondo & Manhatten beaches) and the city itself with museums the La Brea tar pit and night life. etc.

There has got to be a website for attractions in California.

I'm bringing little Rizz along, and we are going to check out Universal Studios on Thursday, then just become absorbed with the astros & freinds all day Saturday & Sunday returning home Monday.

Theres a web site called mapquest -

http://www.mapquest.com/

This site can give you an idea of the distance between locations, and approximate travel times.

Be advised, travel time on some freeways during peak hours can be a drag!

Good luck, and see ya soon!

Rizz

Hi Paul,
Los Angeles IS a vast city! If you are in Hollywood, Burbank, Culver City, San Fernando Valley, Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, etc. you are still in what is considered L.A.!
Just as a frame of reference, I'm sure you know of the HOLLYWOOD sign. Burbank is directly behind that little mountain! A bus from Burbank to Hollywood Blvd. takes about 20 minutes, as I recall. Universal Studios is just a bit north of Burbank. In fact, Universal is close enough to Hollywood that you could walk, if you had the time to kill. I made that trek back in '89. I can't recall how long it took me, but I took the bus when I went back two years ago!
Also, on Hollywood Blvd., if you were to walk out of the Chinese Theatre and turn right and go a couple of blocks(?)there is a museum which has the full bridge of the starship Enterprise from ST:The Next Generation on display. I believe they also have the bar set from 'Cheers'. It was night when I was there and it was closed! Be sure to visit inside the Chinese Theatre. It is absolutely amazing! And Sunset Blvd. is just a bit south of Hollywood Blvd.
Hope this helps!
Rob

Does anyone else attending have plans to stay over in the LA area for a few days? Anyone up for a trip to Edwards or Long Beach? Makes sense to share transportation.

Just checked out the Edwards website. Both the museum and tours of the base are closed to individuals and small groups for the time being.
Similarly Dryden is only open to groups of 15 or more "US citizens".
Better check what else has been shut down before planning a stopover after Burbank.
