Hello all -

My e-mail inbox is constantly being sent messages from THE_WORLD_SPACE_ORGANIZATION even though I have never knowingly subscribed to this group. It appears to be a Yahoo group. I've sent repeated e-mails asking to be taken off of their lists, and for a time that seemed to work - but just recently I've started getting the messages again. No doubt they are a nice group of people, but I'm very keen on putting an end to this if possible.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience? Any suggestions? Any idea on why this happens without any action/request on my part?

Thanks!

Jonathan

Jonathan,

It is possible to subscribe someone to a yahoo list without the consent of the person.

Then again, you can also unsubscribe from any yahoo group without the consent of the group owner, and I suggest that's what you do. Go "My Groups", see what groups you are subscribed to, and if you notice you are registered as a member of any unwanted group, you just unsubscribe.

Hi Jonathan,
I have a HotMail email account and it's easy to block any address. Instead of clicking 'Delete', I click 'Block' and it allows me to block that particular address totally or from anyone with the same address suffix.
I don't know about other email accounts, but I would assume they would have the same option. Perhaps there is a way to do the same within yours.
Good luck, Rob

Dear All

I have the exact opposite problem. I go to my groups and am told I am not a member of any groups.

But I am and I get the daily digests to prove it.

BT is my ISP and recently they got together with Yahoo to become BT Yahoo. I think this has somehow messed up my default email stored by Yahoo which no longer recognises the only email adress I have had for the last 5 years.

I have tried tinkering with the Yahoo groups pages but without any success so far. So I can read your Yahoo Group messages in the daily digest but I cannot post messages.

Thank Goodness for CollectSPACE!
