Hey there Bruce, naw, my son isn't connected in any way, I just thought that if there was anything that I could leave my kids with, it would be perhaps that I could get them around people that may perhaps inspire them that there is no limit to what they can be. For me, I was 9 years old when I met Evel Knievel, to me he was larger than life, and from that moment on, I never wanted to be anything else but a stuntman. Now that I'm 42, and have been a professional stuntman for 25 yrs. Anyway I've only in the past year or two started this neat hobby with my young son Decklan of collecting space stuff. I want not only to leave him with the items, but with the experiences of time spent with the different men which are not only American heroes, but affected history. Who knows, someday my son may grow to be Capt. Deck Braun, of some sort of exploration, if not, well hopefully he will have some fond memories of what his wacky dad did with him when he was a little boy. Take care, Eddie |

I recognize Deck - but who the heck are those old folks? How many grandfathers and great grandfathers can a kid have?I suppose we'll see Deck sitting in an Apollo astronaut's blue convertible next! Way to go Eddie & co. Rizz |

Hmm... I remember a satirical TV show on the BBC that went under the title "Have I got news for you". In that show, they used to show a set of four current news photos and the four candidates - two regulars, two guest stars - were to guess the three common traits and the "odd one out". There was this one guy who was always good for a cynical and tasteless (but hilarious) remark - can't remember the name. "Has it got to do with elderly men and child abuse? - Dubya's the only one who's got a girl around too" might have been one of it.... ------------------ Jürgen P Esders Berlin, Germany http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Astroaddies |

Hello gents, I have to say, as I was watching my son interact with these men, I had goosebumps. He would ask the most innocent questions that any little boy would ask a real "spaceman". I cant wait till the day he is a grown man and we can reflect together our adventures with some of these true history makers. Each man could not have been more pleasant and kind to my son and I. All of them seemed really relaxed and spent more than just a few curtious moments with us. We got to exchange stories and just kinda hang out for a bit. For any of you guys out there that have kids, I can't recommend enough that you do your best to give your kids the opportunity to meet some of these men while they are still alive and accessible, you will enrich your life tremendously, and who knows, maybe inspire your kids that anything is possible, plus you will have THE coolest memories of quality time with your kids. With each and every person that Deck and I had the pleasure to spend some time with, we have the coolest little story of some neat little thing or things that each man did or said that will last a lifetime. One of the sweetest moments was with Mr.Armstrong, when Deck first met him, after much build-up on who he was, and his history, little Deck was so nervous all he could do was grin from ear to ear, but was at first silent. Mr. Armstrong knelt over to him and whispered, "I know what you wanna know", and Deck giggled, "you wanna know if the moon is really made of cheese, huh?" That broke the ice, and for the rest of the time little Deck just couldn't contain himself. Anyway, enough of my gibberish, take care all, Eddie |

The poster's name is appropriately spelled "Crash for cash". How much did anyone pay him for posting this impressive contribution for the commercialisation of space collectible message boards? ;-))

Eddie, There are memories contained in those photos that Deck will treasure throughout his lifetime. Further, you're a great Dad for giving him an opportunity to touch history in this way, and I for one appreciate your sharing them with our group.... ------------------ Steve Hankow http://www.farthestreaches.com |

A big thank you Robert for facilitating and letting me and everyone else know about the ASF silent auction! I was lucky enough to bid and win the private lunch with Buzz, cant wait to watch a relaxing lunch with my son Deck and Buzz. I can never expose my little boy enough to things like that, can't wait to see what my son talks to him about this time. Thanks again Robert, Eddie |
