Just saw this and I thought it was really good........

"Man is the best computer we can put in a spacecraft, and the only one that can be mass produced by unskilled labor..."

I also like another Von Braun quote:

"Once you decide to man a Saturn V, it does not matter how far you go".

The "unskilled labor quote reminded me of another good one by von Braun:

"Crash programs fail because they are based on theory that, with nine women
pregnant, you can get a baby a month."

Two more:

"We can lick gravity, but sometimes the paperwork is overwhelming"

"If we go on producing paper at this rate, we can stack it and walk to the moon!"

The following I've seen attributed to both von Braun and Kurt Debus:
"When the weight of the paperwork equals the weight of the Apollo/Saturn stack - 7.5 million pounds - then you know it's time to launch."

Plenty of funny stories and quotes about spaceflight at http://www.videocosmos.com/kids/funstories/index.shtml

My favorite von Braun quote:

University of Notre Dame was have a celebration of the centennial of their School of something or another and von Braun and MANY astronauts were invited for a couple of different events on several different days.

The first time that year von Braun came, several of us showed up early to chance for autographs....and after he most graciously signed for us, he yelled out loud: "Hey Bucky, come over and sign some stuff for these guys".

R. Buckminster Fuller was the "Bucky" he was calling out to, and he came over and signed some stuff for us guys ! My FAVORITE von Braun quote of them all ! ! !

We didn't even know "Bucky" was around the corner !

Cheers !

All times are CT (US)
