In the very early morning hours, 92 years ago today, the Titanic sunk to the bottom of the north Atlantic.
And in a related story, Gus Grissom once said that some of his bosses weren't amused when he decided to name the first Gemini capsule the (unsinkable) Molly Brown. They told him to go with something else. Grissom replied, "Well, what about the 'Titanic'."
That didn't amuse the bosses either and so Molly Brown it was!

Molly Brown is a great representative of the 'can do, never-say-die' American Spirit. Grissom found an appropriate name for his capsule.

Captain smith - Titanic Captain - was born near to me here in UK and there is a plaque and small bust of him locally.

Some of his relatives still live hereabouts

Yeah, and he wanted to make sure that this capsule didn't sink.

6th Officer James Paul Moody was a cousin of my Grandfather's. In the (most recent) Titanic movie, during the scene where they are leaving the UK port heading out to open sea, Captain Smith turns to the man at the ship's wheel and says "Take her out Mr. Moody." That gave me goose bumps!

Best,
Bruce Moody
