Here's a poser....

My daughter asked a question today whilst I was putting my autographs into order;
" Which is my favourite and best looking autograph"

Well, to me my favourite one is Dave Scott!
The most pleasent looking one to me must be Philippe Perrin, a beautiful flowing signature in gold pen.

Anyone else any favourites, just as an interesting side line?

I'd have to say the favorite would have to be the Mike Collins I have. But then again in the group autograph category ........ I would have to say the poster sized photo that was autographed by all the orginal scientist astronauts that actually hung on the wall at JSC... which I was recently given.

My favorite is an autographs are of Bobby Orr and astronaut Bob Thirsk. The autographs are on a photo of Bob Thirsk flying through the shuttle with his hands out and wearing a Boston Bruins hockey jersey. He was copying Bobby Orr when he scored the winning gaol in the 1970 Stanley Cup finals. The picture of Orr flying through the air can be found on almost every sports bar in Boston as well as parts of Canada. Hockey fans would know of that photo. Great photo and signed by two of the nicest people you would ever meet. Plus Orr is the greatest player to ever laced up the skates.

Eddie.........My favorite autograph (not most valuable) is a copy of the Space Treaty. It is signed " William A. Anders....LMP Apollo 9 (not 8 for good reason)...present at signing". The Anders signature is a classic and at the time he signed it he was named as the LMP of Apollo 9 !! It is the only Anders Apollo 9 item I have come across !!.....Donald Brady

My favourite is not space related. It is from Albert Falco (the chief diver of Calypso) and the inscription reads "the older I get the only things that remain are my dreams". I just think it is a great inscription.
If I had to pick a space related piece it would be the Cernan piece I have that is inscribed "lets get this mutha outta here"

Hi guys,
Wow,
Such a response, in such a short time.
Dennis, glad to see you back.

As most of you may know, I've only been collecting for 14 months now, but I've managed 70 autographs so far.

My best inscription must come from Hoot Gibson. I asked him in a letter what was his most memorable flight.....STS 71 when he took the first shuttle to MIR.
All inscribed on my litho.

Before I go back to the Gulf on Dec 29th, I plan to open my own astronony/ astronaut web site so I'll keep you all informeed as I've been asked numerous times to do so.

Been home 15 days now and no mail yet, so BIG withdrawl symptoms now ... :-(

Happy postman Eddie H

I would have to say my favorite single autograph would be my inscribed shot of Harrison Schmitt on the Moon with the American Flag, one of my longest mail requests at 1 1/2 years....

My favorite group signing is my STS-107 crew photo, inscribed to me.

My favorite non space autograph is a group shot of the Marshall Tucker Band that I completed in person, after my band warmed up for them at an event last year. In person is always better!!

Regards, Bill uzzi69

I have two favourites, neither of them is inscribed:
one is the April 1970 edition of Newsweek showing the Ap13 crew and signed by all three. For extra poignancy the magazine is stamped: "Please do not remove from airplane - courtesy of Northwest Airlines"! (Someone should have left it on board - LOL)
The other is a colour shot of Neil Armstrong, Scott Crossfield and Bob White smiling with each other in front of 2 x-15's. Signed by all three, of course.
Paul Bramley

My favourite is an artist's impression of a Saturn V on the pad, signed by Gus Grissom. As I mainly collect Apollo signatures and don't collect portrait shots or crew signed pieces it is the only Grissom signed item I've ever seen that fits in my collection.
Cheers,
Matt

Not exactly the rarest of signatures, but my favorite would have to be a Sarzin cover signed by John and Annie Glenn. My daughter, son and I met them at the Celebrating Flight Centennial in Dayton, Ohio. This has since been upstaged by a great photo I took of my daughter with John Glenn shaking my son's hand. I sent it to him and it is inscribed "to the Luse Family,John Glenn. Looks great framed and double matted with a couple of patches.

My favorite autograph is a l969 Apollo 11 lunar orbit map inscribed to me with "best wishes" from Neil Armstrong. I obtained this from him through the mail shortly before he stopped signing.

It is important to remember that Astronaut Armstrong was very generous for many years with his signature. I was lucky to obtain an autographed photo and 2 signed covers (launch and Apollo 11 stamp FDC) from him over 20 years.

For the sake of newer collectors, I hope that he might consider signing his upcoming biography but I am not too optimistic,

One of my favorites, although very common, is the Apollo 12 lunar photo of Alan Bean holding a sample w/ Conrad reflected in his visor autographed by Bean. I just like the photo.

Two others a STS-70 crew signed group photo (only because of the Ohio connection of the crew)and a portrait of Yuri Usachev which he signed in silver that really stands out.

Yes,
I have the same photo autographed by Al Bean in Gold, signed "Hello from the moon".
Yuri Usachev, I met him last December he's the first (of 2) that I've met.
Tried to keep my fine marker he used !!
But a really cheerful man to talk to.

As mentioned in nearly every dispatch on this link...every one is "a favourite" as the people concerned have taken their time to do this for us lot.

Cheers again....Eddie

Eddie,
My favorite signature in my collection is that of Gus Grissom. It is the Mercury era photo that he signed for Launch Pad Leader Guenter Wendt (Guenter gave it to me because a little voice inside him told him to do so. It is VERY special to me! The most cherished signed photo in my collection is a rare color shot of the crew of Apollo 1 praying (that belonged to Ed White) and was signed by his son Eddie for me with the inscription, "Thanks for helping me find the truth" (about the Apollo 1 fire). Having said that I believe the best looking signatures in my collection are those of Richard Petty and Johnny Rutherford, though not in the space category.

Astronaut-wise Charlie Duke, because he acted like a nice, normal human being, no snobbish or psychotic attitude either!(hint-Neil Ag)
Non-astro, just scored a Paul Simon, VERY rare, it made my year.
