I just finished up with these DVDs, and thanks again to Space Geek for taking the time and trouble to do them.

I am surprised at how much I enjoyed the episodes. Sure, we know it is rather inaccurate with this little group of astronauts doing all of the missions. But, it does show off NASA and the shuttle program very well when it was at the height of it's post-Challenger/pre-ISS period.

The final episode, which involves the Atlantis' tiles being damaged at Mir and Columbia being fast tracked on a launch to repair them is so ironic. It took them four weeks to get Columbia off the ground and do tile repair.

If that isn't totally impossible, I wish someone had remembered watching this during STS-107, and maybe we would have had a different outcome. Although, I wonder if the effort would really have been made to save a damaged orbiter, or just the crew. Unless it could be flown to a landing by auto, it seams a big risk to the pilots.

No one needed to watch a TV show to recall the idea of launching a second orbiter to rescue the first.

There are numerous reasons why launching an orbiter to rescue the crew was not feasible, nor wise, nor at the time considered. Nevertheless, the scenario was raised numerous times (mostly by spectators) in the wake of the tragedy as a "what if" exercise.

Here are the patches. The one in the upper left was used in the episode I was in.

Tim, Thanks for the patch illustrations, and if I recall, there were a few other designs that I have original color sketches of.

I'll have to locate my file folder from "The Cape" to see what exactly is in there.

Oddly enough, I do recall having drawing sketch designs of at least 2 of the ones depicted here.

While some early patches were produced, it would seem, I am thinking that only 2-3 of each cloth patch depicted above were cheaply produced by one of the show's team members, which by the way, I cannot recall his/her name at the moment.

But I do remember other designs were being worked on with the possibility of producing a bigger quantity that I was going to help with.

I really need to locate the file folder, and once I do, I'll get back to you. Thanks again!

I think the biggest reason it wasn't even considered was that the damage was unknown, or at least not confirmed.

But, after watching that episode, and with Columbia doing the rescuing, it sure makes you think of the "what if" possibilities.

Disc 2, track 6. The space fest show is right at the beginning of the episode. You get a rather good view of the patch above as Barbara finds it at the show.

Thanks for sharing those patch pictures! Did you design them?

Wow, if these patches are ever made, I'd buy a set. Why not post these over on the Patches topic, under the fantasy/TV/movie patches thread!?

Oh my goodness. I was an extra on The Cape for several episodes. I would love to have a copy of as many as I could get. I have just a VHS tape of the pilot. And a really bad copy off the TV on VHS as well of one of the other episodes I was in.

Please... I will send blank DVDs and some shipping money to anyone that could make me a copy. Thanks, Emily

I have The Cape 1996 series staring Corbin Bernsen and Adam Baldwin complete 22 episodes on four DVDs.

Would be great if anyone else has it and would be interested in a trade to compare versions. Mine, I think, are transfers from video tapes onto DVD although very watchable. Would be great to find a copy that looks the same as you did all them years ago when you watched it on your small TV sets.

If any anyone can help please email me. Please state in the email your from this site. — Kevin
