I was thinking that if they made a movie about Neil Armstrong, they might as well make one about John Glenn. Wouldn't it be great?

The actor I would choose to play Glenn would be Kirkwood Smith from "That 70's Show." I have always thought he looks like Glenn (more than Ed Harris). Then I would probably pick actors from "Apollo 13" and "From the Earth to the Moon" to play other astronauts. What about you?

I would rather see a movie about John Glenn than Neil Armstrong any day. To me Ed Harris is John Glenn. But, other actors would be okay.

I don't know, maybe it is just the conservative in me, but I think John Glenn has more than had his day in the sun. I would most certainly pass on such a waste of film.

I think other more deserving astronauts, would be John Young, or Pete Conrad. I think "To Rule the Night," Jim Irwin's autobiography would make a great film.

I just think that John Glenn abandoned his conservative roots and left an abomination of a Senate voting record. If it were up to me, I would have given Scott Carpenter, or Gordon Cooper a ride on Discovery instead of Glenn.

Here here, Ed! Glenn was indeed a hero as an astronaut. His legacy as a senator, however, is in my opinion a stain on his legacy as an astronaut.

Reviving this 12 year old thread on the eve of Col. Glenn's 94th birthday, and as the last (and most famous) of the Mercury 7, I concur that a feature film would be in order, covering his life in war, peace, and the space program. No matter how you feel about his politics, he is a true hero and inspiration.
