Does anyone know why NASA kept changing the format of the Apollo Preliminary Science Reports? The Apollo 11 and 12 reports are longer (or is that "taller") than the Apollo 14, 15, 16 and 17 reports ( standing about half-an-inch higher on my bookshelf). The Apollo 14 report has a white spine with black lettering whereas all the other reports have a blue spine with white lettering. The photographic summary is black and white for Apollos 11, 12 and 14, but colour for the "J" missions. Hardly the most important question, but I'd love to know if there's a rational explanation!

Funny you should say that - often wondered myself - specially the A-14 report Don't know personally.
were the later smaller size reports due to NASA trying to go metric (A4) :-))

I believe the Apollo 14 Preliminary Science Report is also the only one with a Black&White cover ... My favorite is the very heavy Apollo 17 and the Apollo 15 Preliminary Science report with the panoramic fold-outs ...
